He was a wide-eyed boy attending one of his father’s many stage performances, when Laurent was bitten by the acting bug. Since then, he has performed extensively in professional theater, TV, film, and dance. He is a member of both SAG and AFTRA. And travels to NYC regularly to audition for film and TV roles.
He first began dancing professionally with Connecticut Ballet when he was 17. Jazz, modern, and hip-hop followed in CT, NYC, and L.A. In 1997 he joined New England Ballet Company, where he danced more than 18 principal roles in 8 years and served as its Executive Director from 2001-5 |
Laurent began ballroom dancing in 1998 as an instructor at Let’s Dance in Rhythm and is a Pro/Am competing instructor in American Smooth & Latin, Swing, Hustle and Theater Arts. After he retired from ballet, he became co-owner of Let’s Dance in Rhythm from 2005-9. The Shoreline Arts Alliance honored Laurent with its 2008 BRAVO! Award, given “For significant contributions to the arts in our region”. He continues to teach ballroom at Let’s Dance in Rhythm and along the shoreline.
In 2005, Laurent co-founded Connecticut Ballroom Theatre, which showcases the authentic dances of Swing, Mambo, Waltz and others through theater. His talents in acting, singing and dancing are honed through performing with CBT whose repertory consists of “Sentimental Journey” and “Deja-Vu Ballroom”.
